Announcements and Upcoming Events for the Week of June 8th

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Today is the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost  Lectionary readings for today are from Genesis 12:1-9; Psalm 33:1-12; Romans 4:13-25, and Matthew 9:91\-13, 18-26.  Central to these lessons is God’s call to the faithful and God’s promise for those who believe.  Abram and Sarai answered God’s call and by faith received God’s blessing.  Paul recalled their faith as he proclaimed the promise for those who trust in Jesus Christ.  Matthew followed Jesus into a new community where God gathered society’s outcasts.  By faith, the daughter of the synagogue leader and the woman with hemorrhages found healing and life.

But for today and the following Sundays, except next Sunday, Pastor Moon will take the special passages from the Gospel according to Luke.  It is Jesus’ teaching about prayer. It is very interesting to note that Matthew puts the prayer in the context of the Sermon on the Mount, while Luke presents it in the setting of Jesus’ own praying.

As announced, there will be Holy Communion every Sunday after Sunday service for those who missed the first Sunday’s Holy Communion and for those who want to have healing moments and special time with God.  Anyone is welcome to remain in the sanctuary and participate.

Summer Worship Schedule begins NEXT WEEK.  The service will start at 9:30a.m.

Care of the SickThere are times that the Church of the Incarnation Parish is unaware that one of its members may be ill at home or in the hospital.  It could happen especially during the summer.  If this applies to anyone in your family or circle of friends, and you would like them prayed for, visited, or to receive Holy Communion, please contact the church office at 847-956-1510, or call the pastor at 847-439-8717 (the parsonage) any time.

An Upcoming Musical!Your friends at

Trinity United Methodist Church would like to invite you to a musical presented by children and youth from their church and the community.  It is today at 4:00 p.m.  The church is located at
605 W. Golf Road

in

Mt. Prospect.

It’s Time for Lawn Mowing! It is that beautiful time of year again, when everything blooms and the grass grows green.  Pick a week to ride the lawn mower around Incarnation’s beautiful grounds.  The Green Sign-Up Sheet is located on the bulletin board across from the church office.  If you would like to take a turn and are unsure how to work the mower, one of the Trustees will help you.

Going Green!Everyone should be aware that we are making an effort at church to be more ‘green’.  There are now two green recycling bins at church that we hope will be used by the church staff and the congregation alike.  Please use them for paper and anything that is marked as recyclable, but not for food or non-recyclable products such as Styrofoam.  Look for these bins in the Narthex, the office, or the hallway.

Church SecurityThank you to the Woman’s Corner for our new security cameras and monitor that have been installed.  Also, thank you to Tom Rutenber for overseeing the installation.  There has been a problem though with the doors being left unlocked.  When you leave the building, please check to make sure the door has locked behind you.  Thank you.

A Message from Your TrusteesIf you see something around church that may need some attention from the Trustees Committee, please fill out one of the Work Request forms kept in a folder outside the office and place it in the Trustees mailbox.  Please do this for both small maintenance tasks that can be addressed immediately and for large undertakings that can be discussed at thenext Trustees’ meeting.
