Announcements and Upcoming Events

Today is the Third Sunday after Pentecost.  The readings from the lectionary for today are Genesis 6:11-22, 7:24, 8:14-19; Psalm 46; Romans 1:16-17, 3:22b-28, and Matthew 7:21-27.  Here’s the question:  Where do you want to build your house of faith, on the rock of commitment or the sands of idleness?  Our faith in God can be a rock, a refuge, a hope for the ages, for God is faithful, and our faith in God’s presence will sustain us through the many storms of life. 

Northern Illinois Annual Conference is this week from Thursday through Saturday at Pheasant Run Resort, St. Charles.  Pastor Moon and Frank Lee, Lay Conference member will be going.  Please keep praying for the Conference.

 Summer Worship Schedule begins on June 15.  The service will start at 9:30a.m. on that Sunday. 

The Mission Committee will meet after the service today.  

As announced, there will be Holy Communion every Sunday after Sunday service for those who missed the first Sunday’s Holy Communion and for those who want to have healing moments and special time with God.  Anyone is welcome to remain in the sanctuary and participate.   

Thanks to everyone that helped out on the recent Work Day.  The weather was beautiful and a lot of projects, big and small, inside and outside, got accomplished.  About 20 people showed up to help, including several youth.  The accomplishments that will be most noticeable to everyone include the relamping of the sanctuary and the installation of two new sanctuary fans (that means no more clicking fans during services), but there was also lots of painting and staining done, you can now actually walk around in the garage, damaged tables were removed, carpet shampooing was done, some yard work was done, and there was dusting, cleaning windows, and lots of general maintenance. 

It’s Time for Lawn Mowing! It is that beautiful time of year again, when everything blooms and the grass grows green.  Pick a week to ride the lawn mower around Incarnation’s beautiful grounds.  The Green Sign-Up Sheet is located on the bulletin board across from the church office.  If you would like to take a turn and are unsure how to work the mower, one of the Trustees will help you. 

Going Green! Everyone should be aware that we are making an effort at church to be more ‘green’.  There are now two green recycling bins at church that we hope will be used by the church staff and the congregation alike.  Please use them for paper and anything that is marked as recyclable, but not for food or non-recyclable products such as Styrofoam.  Look for these bins in the Narthex, the office, or the hallway. 

A Message from Your Trustees If you see something around church that may need some attention from the Trustees Committee, please fill out one of the Work Request forms kept in a folder outside the office and place it in the Trustees mailbox.  Please do this for both small maintenance tasks that can be addressed immediately and for large undertakings that can be discussed at the next Trustees’ meeting. 

Church Security Thank you to the Woman’s Corner for our new security cameras and monitor that have been installed.  Also, thank you to Tom Rutenber for overseeing the installation.  There has been a problem though with the doors being left unlocked.  When you leave the building, please check to make sure the door has locked behind you.  Thank you. 

Adult Sunday School Indianapolis Colts Head Coach, Tony Dungy, led his team to Super Bowl victory on February 4, 2007.  He’s proud that he’s a “. . . Christian coach showing that you can win doing it the Lord’s way . . .”  The Adult Sunday School will use Tony Dungy’s book, Quiet Strength, The principles, Practices, and Priorities of a Winning Life.  The book is designed for men’s Bible study, but ladies will benefit from Dungy’s lessons as well.  Please join us in the Parlor on Sundays at 8:45 a.m.  You won’t get roughed up.  There’s plenty of Gatorade for the spiritually out-of-shape. 

Host Families Needed for French Students Host families are needed for 2 to 3 weeks for French students visiting the Chicago area from August 1 to August 21, 2007.   Single adults and families with or without children can host.

 Students bring their own spending money and there are planned activities during the week. 

Hosting an exchange student is a wonderful way to learn about another culture and make an international friend.

The Center for Cultural Interchange is a non-profit student exchange organization dedicated to the promotion of cultural understanding, academic development and world peace through international exchange.
