Announcements and Events for the Week of April 13th
Monday, April 14th, 2008Today is the 4th Sunday of EasterToday’s lectionary readings are Acts 2:41-47; Psalm 23; 1 Peter 2:19-25, and John 10:1-10. Jesus teaches His disciples what it means to be shepherd and sheep. We rejoice that Jesus, our Shepherd calls us each by name and is the One who came that we may have abundant life (John 10:10b). This abundant life is described in Acts. As a result of fellowship, breaking bread together, prayer, attention to the apostles’ teachings, and sharing all things in common (Acts 2:42,44), how far we have moved from that early paradigm of selfless giving!
As announced, there will be Holy Communion every Sunday after Sunday service for those who missed the first Sunday’s Holy Communion and for those who want to have healing moments and special time with God. Anyone is welcome to remain in the sanctuary and participate.
Next Sunday we will celebrate Native American Ministries Sunday, which is one of the church-wide special Sundays with special offerings. Please refer to the bulletin insert for more detailed information. Reverend Michelle Oberwise Lacock is the guest speaker for the day, who is an expert on this ministry.
Newsletter Deadline is Friday, April 25. Please have all articles in the church office by this date.
